This week I wanted to chat with you about the 2-hour guitar recording sessions we hosted during the weekend. It was a great success and thank each and every one that booked in. We would love to extend this offer out to anyone who wanted to grab the opportunity but didn't get the chance!
The idea behind these sessions to allow singer-songwriters and solo artists the platform to get a proper recording of a song of their choice in an affordable and accessible way.
We deal with all of the technical side of things and leave you with the headspace to do the creative bit of playing your acoustic guitar part and do the singing.
The first stage is to get you setup whether you prefer sitting/standing when playing guitar is completely your choice and then getting the microphones setup and the jack cable plugged in from the guitar and check the feed through to the control room. Our live room space is designed to be comfortable and warm but also clutter free and relaxing to minimise on distraction and let you have the best experience you possibly can.
After each take of recording, you get to hear back what you have done. The good thing to know is that you don’t have to be perfect in every take. We have the capabilities of editing so if there are small parts of a great take that need to be tweaked, we can do this in only a matter of moments.
Once the guitar is recorded, we move onto recording your vocal/singing. We use a condenser microphone for this and would set and check levels in the headphones ensuring you can hear everything to your desired levels. The simplest and most relaxing way to record is to do 3 takes and then pick and choose between these to make an almost perfect track whilst minimalizing the amount of post edit that would need done. If there are a few lines that would need recorded again, we can capture these to complete the track properly.
We would hope to achieve all of this within the first hour or so of the session.
From there it’s time to mix, master and send you your finished track. We spend that time going through each part of your song doing all the techy bits to ensure your song is polished and ready for distribution.
The special thing about these sessions is that you do not have to wait for your song. In a conventional studio package you come in, record and then leave and the mixing and mastering is done when you are not present. This session allows for you to be a part of the full works and have your say on all things to do with your creation. Each part of the process is a discussion to give you the song you wanted to have. The other process is a constant back and forth of edits which is time consuming for both parties. This package is 2 hours and done all for £50!
Our studio is a very relaxed environment where you can feel comfortable with no pressure. We offer complimentary hot and cold beverages as well as chilled bottled water so you have everything you need to stay hydrated and concentrate on your music.
