Hi all you lovely people,
Thanks for coming back for another week of our blog!
In this week’s blog we will tell you all about what we’ve been up to.
On Tuesday we released out second ‘2 Minute Tuesday’ have watch of it here if you haven’t already done so:
Wednesday, we had the lovely Amy in to record a Vocal for the cover version of Obsession by Ultrasonic that we are producing for The Backdater film. Eddie Clarke who is the writer of the film and a musician himself was there to oversee the progress and give us guidance with how he would like the song to come together. You can find out more about the film by following The Recovery Collective from this link:

Since recording we have finished composing the cover version and on Monday this will be getting mixed and mastered in our studio.
Thursday saw more editing of the film which includes tracking the dialogue and doing an audio mix of this as well as soundtrack composition and SFX where needed. This is a fun process but is time consuming as it is all about designing the audio to make the audience have the particular feeling you are intending to create. Also we were busy prepping the studio for Friday. Which makes you all ask the question – What happened on Friday?? Well we had the amazing band ‘Insert Caption’ in to record there latest single “Dance Dealer” This is a full of energy upbeat song. I would love to briefly share the process of recording a band with you now. I will go into this in more detail in another blog.
Firstly there needs to be a guide track recorded, this is usually a simple guitar and vocal track along to the metronome so that everyone in the band knows the structure of the song and it will all be intime and steady throughout.
Then we record drums. Yesterday this was done by Aleks who is the bands drummer. He is 16 years old and had a very natural talent for playing drums. He managed to put down his drum part in 2 takes and will require little to no edit to tidy up the drums in post-production.
Once the drum part for the track is recorded we handed over to Cal to record bass. Cal recorded her bass in 2 takes and was rock solid. The foundation of any good song comes from a good and steady bass line and this is certainly that.
Third up was Kian to record both lead and rhythm guitar. He is a perfectionist and really got the part down.
Then last but not least we had Yonee laying down a spellbinding vocal! She didn’t just sing the song she performed it!
We had such a great day with them. Not only were we working but we had a great laugh with them and now are very far on into the Mixing and mastering process. We plan to get the first edit of the song to them this Wednesday! In the meantime please go to the Instagram and drop them a like and check them out! https://www.instagram.com/insertcaptionband?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==
In next weeks blog I am going to share some of the stories and experiences that I have from working within film and TV.
Hope you all have a great week!
